Challenge to link between schizophrenia and urban living

The causes of schizophrenia — a brain disorder that causes delusions, affects thinking and can seriously debilitate people who live with the condition — are still a mystery.

For years the Health Report has been covering the evidence that there are strong environmental and social factors lying behind schizophrenia — in particular, living in cities.

But a recent study has torpedoed that idea.
